Chapters 41-44 Hiran.ya-kas`ipu & his son Pra-hlada

41:28 While queen Kayadhu was enjoying sexual intercourse with him, "Hiran.ya-kas`ipu’s semen discharged just when he was reciting the hymn." (41:24-25 That hymn was to god Nara-ayan.a, the ocean-god.)

Lao-koon had sexual intercourse with his wife within sight of the idol. (Lao-koon was priest to Poseidon the sea-god.) [Lao-koon’s blindness may be the sightlessness of the newborn duckbilled platypus, not opening its eyen until 11 weeks after birth (DP)]

43:31-32 Hiran.ya-kas`ipu’s son Pra-hlada was tied with snake-bonds; and, still so tied, was dropped into the ocean.

Lao-koon’s son Anti-phas (only) was strangled by sea-serpents.

44:7-10 Holding his sword Candra-hasa (‘moon-laughter’) while denouncing the hollow pole for its containing within it a god,

Holding his spear while denouncing the hollow wooden image,

:11-12 Hiran.ya-kas`ipu smote it.

Lao-koon smote it.

:32 The body of Hiran.ya-kas`ipu disappeared into the hollow claws of Nara-simha. [Similarly, Soma disappeared into the talon (toenail) of Garu-tman, necessitating the shooting off of that talon by the archer Kr.s`anu in order to recover the Soma, according to the R.c-Veda.] (Nara-simha’s hollow claw may be the hollow poison-spur of the duckbilled platypus.]

[Cf. the wounding of Owi:-lawos by one of the Stumphalian birds. The name /Owi-/ ‘sheep’ would allude to the ‘sheep-filter’ for Soma (as mentioned in the R.c-Veda).]
