yu:eh-c^ien method

p. 245 the "gate of hell", "daemon's entrance", or "devil's gate" is always to the northeast in most Daoist schemes:

p. 246 but in the Thunder Magic system, it can revolve, being in the direction pointed by the handle of the Big Dipper

p. 248 likewise in the use of the ts>ao-jen ("straw-man") effigy for the funeral ritual:

p. 250 the willow-branch is pointed toward that revolving Ken-position

summoning the tsu-c^>i ("ancestral breath"), by yu:eh-c^ien

p. 251 In a position between the kidneys & the stomach, the 3 vapors "now join together into a small bluish-black" pearl in the centre of the Yellow Court:

p. 252 that pearl becometh "a reddish flame", extending upward into the min-t>an (light-hall) of the brain;

sun (with 7 light-rays) & moon (with 10 light-rays) co-alesce "into a single white circle ... between the eyebrows>".

2nd circle, with dot in centre, repraesenting the t>ai-c^i (immanent transcendent);

p. 253 at position, as per yu:eh-c^ien, of Kan (P>o-c^un), bowl-sized "red star":

suddenly the "red star" is transformed into "a terrifying spirit with three heads and six arms."

That spirit is so tall that is stretcheth upward into the sky; the spirit bendeth down and putteth the practitioner on its shoulders, standing up again so that the practitioner is now in the heavens.
